SHALOM IN REAL LIFE! iS IT POSSIBLE?
A deep longing
Regardless of where we find ourselves in life, most of us would agree we haven’t yet arrived at our destination. In fact, when truly honest, many admit it is hard to be sure of their destination—or if they even are heading in the right direction.
Deep inside we are all searching for meaning and fulfillment. While we may not always recognize it, more than anything else most of us are seeking “true shalom.” We long for things to be right in the world. More than that, we long for things to be right within us.
The Hebrew word “shalom” has as its root the idea of wholeness—a wonderful concept. Yet, no matter how hard we try, we feel far from complete. Life seems to be a series of expectations lost, dreams unfulfilled, and relationship after relationship broken.
Is true peace achievable? Or is the pursuit of shalom simply chasing an illusion that doesn’t exist?
Shalom possible!
We believe REAL PEACE IS POSSIBLE!
Why then does a sense of “being whole” so often escape our grasp? Because true peace cannot be based on our circumstances, which mostly are beyond our control.
Everyone desires a fulfilling career, physical wellness, great relationships, and a healthy family. These are great aspirations—yet in themselves they can never satisfy the deeper longing within us. True shalom cannot be found in anything external.
We have discovered real shalom begins with and flows out of relationship with G-d. Our Creator loves us and desires us to know Him. (G-d says, “Know that I am the L-RD” 77 times in the Hebrew Scriptures)
Messiah
We believe G-d made Himself known to us in a very special way in Yeshua (Jesus of Nazareth), the promised Messiah. When we make our refuge in Him we find a peace and forgiveness that exists beyond our present circumstances. This has the power to ground us even in the most difficult situations of life.
In experiencing the right relationship with our Creator we discover what our hearts were always seeking. The Messiah has promised real-life shalom, in all aspects of life, to those who trust in Him.
